About the Role

We are seeking a driven and ambitious Recruitment Specialist for our Trades & Labor desk in Canberra. 

This role manages a high-volume 360-degree recruitment desk specializing in trades and labor staffing within the construction sector. Capitalising on an established portfolio of warm client relationships, the desk drives full-lifecycle recruitment, balancing aggressive market development with end-to-end candidate sourcing and placement management. While operations are predominantly focused on flexible, short-term temporary assignments (approximately 90%), the desk strategically identifies and facilitates seamless temp-to-perm conversions to maximize long-term client retention and revenue potential. 

Your Responsibilities

• Full-Cycle Recruitment: Manage candidate sourcing, interviewing, client account management, cold calling and direct sales.
• Candidate Sourcing & Screening: Proactively source candidates using LinkedIn, job boards (Seek), and network referrals. Conduct interviews to maintain a strong pipeline of skilled trades and labor talent.
• Client Engagement: Build strong relationships with site managers and decision-makers, completing 2 to 5 face-to-face client visits per week.

• Driving Business Development: Actively hunt for new clients through target-led cold calling, sales activity, and reverse marketing.
• Managing Client Portfolios: Maintain and grow a warm client portfolio while conducting face-to-face client visits to build trust and expand accounts.

What We're Looking For

• Relevant Experience: Background in recruitment, retail, industrial sales, or high-volume customer service.
• Drive & Motivation: Strong commercial acumen with a target-driven mindset and a desire to build a lucrative desk.
• Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence to meet clients on-site and build rapport with blue-collar candidates.
• Work Ethic: Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable managing fast-paced temporary staffing demands
