About the Role

As our new (Senior) IT Category Manager, you will be a critical procurement business partner, taking full ownership of the IT category for North America (USA and Canada). You will develop and execute comprehensive sourcing strategies for all technology goods and services, including hardware, software, SaaS, consulting, and telephony.

This is a strategic role focused on driving cost savings, improving purchasing processes, and managing key supplier relationships to support our IT and business goals. You will act as a procurement expert, co-creating strategies with IT leaders and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

 

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Category Management: Develop, execute, and track the long-term sourcing strategies for the entire IT category, focusing on North America.
  • Stakeholder Partnership: Act as the primary procurement business partner for IT leaders, translating their business needs into effective category strategies and aligning on annual budgets.
  • Cost & Value Optimization: Lead strategic sourcing projects, complex negotiations, and process improvements to drive significant cost savings and avoidance.
  • Supplier & Risk Management: Manage relationships with key IT suppliers, lead collaborative joint business plans, and actively contribute to 3rd party risk management and mitigation.
  • Contracting Excellence: Lead the end-to-end contracting process, collaborating with Legal, IT Security, and other internal teams to draft, redline, and finalize multi-million dollar contracts.

 

What you will be doing

  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver multiple strategic sourcing projects from RFI to contract execution.
  • Prepare and execute high-stakes negotiation plans & strategies for business-critical IT contracts.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for your category, such as contract coverage, spend under management, and supplier performance.
  • Collaborate with IT leaders during the annual budget process, ensuring spending patterns align with strategic goals.
  • Ensure the realization of procurement value creation targets for cost savings and avoidance.
  • Guide and mentor junior team members in developing their sourcing strategies.

 

Who you will work with

You will be a key partner to senior IT leaders and business stakeholders across North America. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, including Legal, Finance, IT Security, and Risk Management, to ensure compliant and secure contracts. You will report to the Director, Procurement.

 

What you will bring

You are an experienced strategic sourcing expert with deep knowledge of the IT category and a proven track record of managing senior stakeholders.

 

  • Extensive Experience: A minimum of 8 years of total professional experience, with at least 4+ years in strategic sourcing and category management, preferably in the IT space.
  • IT Category Expertise: Deep understanding of the IT category, including hardware, software (SaaS, on-premise), consulting, telephony, and print management.
  • Negotiation Mastery: Proven, hands-on experience leading and negotiating multi-million dollar, business-critical contracts.
  • Executive Presence: Excellent communication skills with the proven ability to manage, influence, and build trust with senior executives and stakeholders.
  • Sourcing Acumen: Deep understanding of the end-to-end source-to-contract lifecycle.
  • Education: An undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, Business Management, or a related field is required. (A graduate degree or sourcing/supply chain certifications are a plus).
  • Language & Flexibility: Fluent in English. You must be able to work effectively within the CET time zone while providing primary support and flexibility for stakeholders in the EST (North America) time zone.
